Abstract: In 1833 happened a correspondence between the rector
of the university Rostock Prof. Strempel and Carl Friedrich
Gauß. Gauß gave advices for the equipment of an astronomical
observatory upon the designed building for the collections of
sciences in Rostock. The lecture gives the contents of the
letter of Gauß and some remarks about the situation at the
university Rostock in this time.
